Project Story
Trusted by Fairatmos
The Zambian Central Province Safe Water Project aims to provide safe drinking water by installing boreholes, reducing reliance on fuel-based purification methods. Over 84,000 tCO2e of emissions have been cut to date, with continued reductions expected during the 5-year crediting period (2021-2026). The project, managed by CO2balance UK Ltd, Village Water, and ECHO, has improved water access for over 38,000 people, cut water collection time by over 40%, and promoted gender equality by easing the burden on women and girls. Boreholes use emission-free technologies like hand or solar-powered pumps, reducing carbon emissions and supporting sustainable water management.
