The REDD+ Matavén Project in Cumaribo, Colombia, spans 1,856,836 hectares, aiming to reduce over 108,000,000 tCO2e emissions from 2013 to 2042. It engages 3,165 community members in training and protects 17 endemic species. With 315 indigenous guards patrolling 37 routes, the project enhances surveillance and promotes sustainable forest management. It also improves access to information, markets, health, education, and clean water, while strengthening local governance and sustainable agriculture.

The project developed the Family Agri-food Production Units System (FAPUS) and various productive projects, including cocoa, plantain, and abarco, while establishing 'IPSMatavénSalud', the first primary healthcare provider in Matavén, improving health services for over 4,700 indigenous people, including 2,100 women.
Biodiversity Benefits
The Project prevents deforestation in an area highly rich in biodiversity. The area hosts 249 bird species, 198 butterfly species, 196 ant species, 136 fish species, 121 plant species, and 33 dung beetle species, many of which are endemic.
