Restoring Ecosystems, Changing Lives

Restoring Ecosystems, Changing Lives

Climate impact must be both measurable and meaningful. With AtmosFund, we deliver ecosystem restoration, community uplift, and verifiable carbon projects helping portfolios align with net zero emissions goals.

Across Indonesia, landscapes tell stories of change. In some places, deforested hillsides are beginning to turn green again. Along certain coastlines, mangroves are returning after decades of decline. These transformations are the result of careful planning, local dedication, and the right kind of long-term support.

One example can be found in the Segara Anakan lagoon of Central Java, where mangrove roots are once again taking hold in the mudflats.

Featured Project: Cilacap Blue Carbon, A Coastal Comeback Story

In the Segara Anakan Lagoon of Central Java, mangroves are making a quiet but powerful return. Once threatened by degradation, the 1,242 hectare area is now on a path to recovery through the Cilacap Blue Carbon Project.

This restoration isn’t just about planting trees, it's about reviving an ecosystem that supports both biodiversity and local livelihoods. The project is expected to capture around 506,100 tonnes of CO₂ over its lifetime, following Verra VM0033 methodology.

For the people of Cilacap, mangroves mean more than climate action. Many locals practice silvo-fishery, an approach that combines aquaculture with mangrove planting. It provides income, strengthens food security, and ensures that the forest grows back stronger each year. The lagoon is not only healing it’s becoming a model of how community and conservation can work hand in hand.

Where AtmosFund Comes In

Projects like Cilacap’s require resources, technical expertise, and ongoing monitoring to succeed. That’s where AtmosFund plays a role assessing climate potential, supporting implementation, and ensuring that restoration work delivers measurable benefits for both ecosystems and people.

To date, more than 60 million hectares of land across Indonesia have been evaluated with our remote sensing technology. These efforts cover mangroves, peatlands, and other nature-based solutions that help store carbon and restore biodiversity.

A Broader Picture of Change

Each project supported through AtmosFund shares a common approach: pairing community involvement with science-backed methods and transparent reporting. By tracking progress with both fieldwork and satellite monitoring, these projects can show tangible results over time building trust with funders, stakeholders, and the communities who live alongside them.

An Open Invitation

The work of restoring landscapes and protecting communities is ongoing. AtmosFund’s role is to ensure that these projects have the resources, partnerships, and accountability they need to thrive. Whether it’s along the coast of Central Java or deep within a peatland forest, the goal is the same: to let nature do what it does best heal, grow, and sustain life.
