ICMA Launch: A Step Forward for a More Inclusive and Trustworthy Carbon Ecosystem
On July 24, 2025, we joined a key event held by the Indonesia Business Council (IBC) spotlighting the ongoing role of the Indonesia Carbon Market Academy (ICMA) in shaping Indonesia’s carbon ecosystem.
This moment served as a powerful reminder of why it matters: supporting the people behind climate action from companies to communities so they’re better equipped to participate in a growing, evolving carbon space.
At Fairatmos, we see this not just as a technical mission, but a human one.
So, what is ICMA really doing?
ICMA focuses on strengthening local capacity through three main areas:
-
Education, Supporting mindset shifts across industries toward greener, long-term thinking.
-
Public engagement, Helping sustainability stories reach more people through outreach and media.
-
Practical programs, Encouraging hands-on involvement in energy transition and climate initiatives.
As shared by IBC COO William Sabandar, these efforts are about laying the groundwork for a credible, inclusive, and globally connected carbon ecosystem.
Bridging Gaps Through Collaboration
One theme that stood out during the discussion was trust.
Paul Butarbutar from ICRES noted that while Indonesia’s carbon market is progressing, quality and transparency still vary and that affects how local projects are perceived globally.
But rather than focusing on blame, the focus was on solutions and partnerships.
That’s something we strongly believe in at Fairatmos.
We work every day to:
-
Help local project developers build stronger, traceable systems
-
Provide a transparent platform to connect with responsible buyers
-
Ensure fairness and clarity for all stakeholders
Inclusion is Not Optional, It’s Essential
Our CEO, Natalia Rialucky Marsudi, shared a key point during the session:
“Everyone deserves the chance to participate not just because carbon has value, but because solving the climate crisis requires all of us.”
At Fairatmos, we are deeply committed to this belief.
We’re here to open access, break down technical barriers, and create space for voices that have been underrepresented from forest communities to emerging project developers.
Looking Ahead
This ICMA moment reminded us that a better carbon ecosystem isn’t built on transactions, it's built on trust, capacity, and collaboration.
Fairatmos is proud to support that vision. We’ll keep building toward a carbon ecosystem where impact is shared, progress is inclusive, and transparency is the standard.
