From Field to Dashboard: Optimizing Carbon Stock Tracking
Others

Carbon stock monitoring is essential for demonstrating additionality and ensuring precise quantification of carbon credit generation. To qualify for the carbon market, carbon stock assessments must comply with international or national standards. AtmosWatch streamlines this process by organizing tree data and automating carbon stock calculations, improving both efficiency and accuracy.
Seamless Data Collection and Processing
The process begins with field teams measuring sampled tree dimensions and scanning results using the AtmosGo application. With OCR technology integrated into AtmosGo—which connects directly to AtmosWatch—handwritten records are instantly converted into digital data. Office teams can then review and refine the results in AtmosWatch for accuracy.
Within the Data Input > Carbon Stock menu, office teams must input tree species along with their designated area plots and stratums. The appropriate methodology must be selected for each stratum, followed by key data inputs such as wood density, root-to-shoot ratio, plot size, stratum size, and tree count per stratum. (Wood density and root-to-shoot ratio data can be sourced from scientific literature.) AtmosWatch then automates carbon stock calculations, significantly streamlining data processing and ensuring consistency.
Key Benefits of Carbon Stock Monitoring with AtmosWatch
-
Enhancing Accuracy in Carbon Stock Measurement
AtmosWatch applies allometric equations to the provided data, eliminating the need for manual calculations and reducing the risk of human error. -
Ensuring Compliance with Carbon Credit Standards
AtmosWatch integrates methodologies aligned with the Verra standard, a globally recognized benchmark for carbon projects. These methodologies are based on Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation (ARR) and Avoiding Unplanned Deforestation and/or Degradation (AUDD) standards. -
Comparing Planned vs. Realized Carbon Sequestration
The AtmosWatch Carbon Performance module provides real-time visual insights, displaying a graph that compares planned and realized carbon stock over time. Additionally, it offers a breakdown of carbon stock across different stratums for better analysis and decision-making.
By simplifying carbon stock monitoring, AtmosWatch enables project developers to maintain high data integrity, comply with regulatory standards, and maximize their impact in the carbon market.
