The Faculty of Geography at Gadjah Mada University has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Fairatmos for the development of academic research, refinement of technology, and the design of educational programs related to environmental sustainability studies.

The Letter of Intent (LoI) was signed by Dr. Dyah Rahmawati Hizbaron, S.Si., M.T., M.Sc., Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Geography at Gadjah Mada University, and Khairil Fahmi Faisal, S.Si., Head of Remote Sensing, and with the online presence of Fairatmos CEO Natalia Rialucky Marsudi and Dr. Danang Sri Hadmoko, S.Si., M.Sc., Dean of the Faculty of Geography at Gadjah Mada University, during a focus group discussion between the two parties.

Research will be a priority for both parties for the development of remote sensing technology owned by Fairatmos to promote high-quality Nature-based Solutions projects. Both parties agree that there is a need to enhance domestic resource capacity related to Nature-based Solutions to increase credibility in environmental sustainability-related expertise.

"We are enthusiastic about collaborating with Fairatmos and fellow academics. This collaboration signifies a strong commitment from us to expand credible human resources through the development of learning programs, and we hope to open certification classes related to environmental sustainability studies. We believe that with the expertise from Fairatmos, the process of collecting information and data directly from the field can be facilitated," said Dyah.

Natalia expressed during the session that the research conducted will directly contribute to the development of Fairatmos technology.

"The research conducted by the Faculty of Geography at UGM will be crucial knowledge in the technology refinement process, ensuring that Fairatmos carbon projects excel in the potential absorption of carbon emissions into the atmosphere. We see this collaboration as a significant step for the country in providing strong resources for environmental sustainability industries, especially in carbon and climate change," Natalia said virtually.

The signing of the LoI marks an important step for Fairatmos and the Faculty of Geography at Gadjah Mada University in combating global climate change and carbon emissions. Both parties are committed to continuously innovating effective measures to achieve common goals.
