Samarinda, August 1, 2024 – In a joint effort to address climate change, Fairatmos, an environmental technology company, collaborated with the Indonesian Forest Business Association (APHI) East Kalimantan to hold a Workshop on "Optimizing Forest Environmental Services for #BersamaPulihkanAtmosfer". The event, held at the MPI Building, East Kalimantan, was attended by forestry industry players, academics, and other stakeholders.

This workshop demonstrated the strong commitment of Fairatmos and APHI East Kalimantan to supporting sustainable forest management. Through a series of presentations by experts, participants gained a deeper understanding of the crucial role of forest environmental services in maintaining ecosystem balance and mitigating climate change impacts.

Indonesia, with its vast tropical forests, has immense potential to contribute to climate change mitigation. Forest environmental services, such as carbon sequestration, hydrological cycle regulation, and biodiversity protection, are essential. This workshop aimed to raise awareness about the importance of preserving and enhancing the quality of forest environmental services.

One of the main focuses of the workshop was the introduction of AtmosCheck technology. This platform enables accurate and efficient measurement and monitoring of forest environmental services. By streamline processes by incorporating approved frameworks from Sistem Registri Nasional (SRN) in AtmosCheck, participants can calculate the amount of carbon absorbed by forests with greater precision.

Documentation of Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between Fairatmos and APHI East Borneo

The workshop culminated in the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between Fairatmos and APHI East Kalimantan. This collaboration will create opportunities for both parties to develop the potential of forest environmental services in East Kalimantan. Through mentoring and capacity building of APHI members, it is expected to increase the forestry sector's contribution to achieving greenhouse gas emission reduction targets.
