The Russas Project in Acre, Brazil, conserves 41,976 hectares of forest and aims to prevent over 1,200,000 tCO2e of emissions over its first 10 years (2011-2041). It improved the livelihoods of 640 community members by enhancing healthcare, sanitation, and schooling. The project has discovered two new species and addresses deforestation by providing payments for ecosystem services, agricultural training, and job creation, while supporting local socio-environmental development.
