The project area represents approximately 15% of Siberut Island, with the forest storing over 20 million tCO2eq. It is an active logging concession, with an average logging realization achievement exceeding 70% against its management plan (RKU) in the past 10 years. This region holds high biodiversity value due to its direct adjacency to the Siberut National Park, making it crucial for biodiversity conservation. Protection of the area creates significant ecological impact, as the area is a biosphere reserve with the highest level of biodiversity on Sumatra Island. The development of this project will impact over 8,000 individuals who have traditionally relied on forest resources for their livelihoods.
