Our Why: Fairatmos

Carbon emissions affect the planet significantly, as they are the greenhouse gas with the highest levels of emissions in the atmosphere. This causes global warming and climate change. Global carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from fossil fuels and industry have increased significantly since 2000, and in 2019 reached a record high of 36.7 billion metric tons of CO2. In December 2015, private companies and governments all over the world committed to minimize the increase of global temperature in the Paris Agreement.

Indonesia has the world’s third largest tropical forest with 65% of Indonesia's total area of 187 million km2 covered in forests, therefore has massive biodiversity opportunities for carbon capture. Indonesia has committed to reduce its greenhouse (GHG) gas emissions target unconditionally to 29% and conditionally (with international support) to 41% compared to business-as-usual (BAU) by 2030.

The world needs to reduce carbon emission faster. Carbon credit projects help to reduce carbon emissions by building a project to absorb greenhouse gas emissions in our atmosphere. Limited technical expertise, high upfront investment and a long verification process have become the main challenges for project developers to create carbon credit projects. Fairatmos is here to help project developers use technology and verify their carbon absorption potential easier and faster.
